Dr. Sophia Torres

Dr. Sophia Torres grew up in Mansfield, Texas and earned her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University (’20 Whoop!). Before starting veterinary school, she interned at the Hawaii Wildlife Center, where she worked with native birds and bats, and developed a deeper love for wildlife. She went on to earn her veterinary degree from Colorado State University, where she developed a strong interest in internal medicine, cytology, and dentistry.

Dr. Torres is especially passionate about making veterinary care more accessible and practicing across the spectrum of care. While at CSU, she helped organize student-led vaccine clinics for underserved and Spanish-speaking communities, which remains one of her proudest accomplishments. After graduation, she continued that outreach by volunteering at a spay and neuter clinic in Montana. She’s excited to be part of the Maplewood team and can’t wait to make meaningful connections with all the wonderful pets and people in the Bellingham area.

When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll probably find her camping, hiking, or exploring the outdoors with her husband and their four beloved pets- Khosh, Bek, Ori, and Cricket. They are excited to call Bellingham home and are eager to get to know the welcoming community and explore the beautiful outdoors.
